Pro Street on the Strip!
Pro Street and HOTROD Drag Week regulars, Joe Barry and Larry Larson, cruise their 200mph capable “street cars” for over an hour up and down the Las Vegas Strip. In case you forgot, Larson’s Nova is the same one we were reporting on last September for making the first-ever six-second pass in Drag Week history – at well over 200mph, no less. The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) held its second race of the season Apr. 15-16, at south Florida’s all-concrete Palm Beach International Raceway.
Winners at the ADRL Safety-Kleen Spring Drags II included Joey Martin after a dominating performance all weekend delivered his first Pro Extremewin, Mike Castellana n Pro Nitrous, Billy Glidden (left) with a final-round bye in Extreme 10.5, Extreme Pro Stock’s Pete Berner, who also scored his first ADRL race title, and Ashley Owens, who extended his Pro Extreme Motorcycle race-winning streak to seven, dating back to last year.
Drag Illustrated’s Ian Tocher was at the race and snapped a few shots for the Web site.

The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) opened its 2011 season Mar. 25-26, at the recently renamed Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas. Winners at the ADRL CarSafe Dragpalooza VII presented by LenMar Motorsports included Jason Hamstra with his third Pro Extreme race title, Khalid Al-Balooshi with his second in Pro Nitrous, Extreme 10.5 rookie Lamar Swindoll Jr. in his career-first ADRL appearance, Cary Goforth with his fourth race win in Extreme Pro Stock, and Ashley Owens, who extended his Pro Extreme Motorcycle race-winning streak to six, dating back to last year.
