Pro Stock Power Rankings (After 8 of 22 Races)

RANK (LW) TEAM RECORD COMMENT
Vincent Nobile 1 (3) Mountain View Tire/Nick Mitsos Racing 14-7 This kid is out-of-this-world. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen anyone have such a strong presence in NHRA Pro Stock in their debut season, and Vincent Nobile doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. He may have left a little early in the final at Old Bridge, but we chalk it up to someone trying really, really hard. When you pair Nobile’s genetic driving talent with top-level performance, it’s a recipe for disaster for the rest of the field, and that’s exactly what this Mountain View Tire team has cooked up.
Jason Line 2 (2) KB Racing 16-5 With three wins to his credit so far this season and sufficient horsepower to get the job done on any given weekend, Jason Line is looking really good 8 races into the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season. He’s been killer on the tune up, and on the tree, but did get caught by Vincent Nobile in E-Town when his own .032 wasn’t enough for Nobile’s .028 – especially with identical elapsed times.
Allen Johnson 3 (9) J&J Racing 9-7 AJ has been open about being comfortable with the start to 2011 being a bit rough-and-tumble as they sort out a new state-of-the-art chassis design, he’s got to be thrilled with the way his car is running just 8 races in, as well as that string of four win-lights on Sunday in New Jersey.
Greg Stanfield 4 (4) Bob Yonke Motorsports 15-8 Greg Stanfield is has yet to get his picture taken in the winner’s circle in 2011, but he’s had a better chance than almost anyone on three different occasions. Surely, his time is coming soon. He’s had a great start, evident by the 15-8 record, but he might have a little room for improvement on his engine program at the moment. But, hey, doesn’t everyone? One of the sport’s hardest working real-deal racers, Stanfield is going to be tough throughout the remainder of the season.
Greg Anderson 5 (6) KB Racing 14-7 He’s going rounds, even won a race, but Greg Anderson – one of Pro Stock’s most dominant forces ever – probably isn’t satisfied with his season thus far. He’s never made any bones about his desire to win and he clearly won’t settle for anything less. Between him and teammate Line, they’ve won half the races this season, so KB Racing is in good shape for early June.
Mike Edwards 6 (1) Mike Edwards Motorsports 12-6 Considering the fact that he’s hardly ever qualified outside of the top 3 spots in Pro Stock this year, it’s amazing that Mike Edwards has only won one race in 2011. If history is any indication, and it is, Edwards will be in the hunt come the Countdown – no way around it.
Shane Gray 7 (10) Gray Motorsports 7-7 After that win in Topeka, Gray has the attention of the Pro Stock pits, and for good reason. He took out Erica Enders, Jason Line, Greg Anderson and Greg Stanfield en route to his win at Heartland Park, and if he can get past those four, there is litte he can’t do.
Rodger Brogdon 8 (NR) Rodger Brogdon Racing 9-8 We still can’t shake the pair of incredible performances out of Rodger Brogdon this season; first in Gainesville, then again in Houston. He’s inches away from his first career Pro Stock win, and he’s going to be a tough customer for anyone in the opposing lane this year.
Erica Enders 9 (8) Cagnazzi Racing 7-8 Erica is having a solid year, one that she should certainly be enjoying considering her last few dismal seasons, but the Cagnazzi Racing camp is used to being in the hunt for a championship. They appear to have the necessary performance, but they’re going to have to bring it all together for a strong outing on Sunday if they want it to matter.
Ron Krisher 10 (5) Ron Krisher Racing 4-8 The factory hot rod division has long since been known as the toughest in all of drag racing, and Krisher’s working hard to make his presence felt. With the recent addition of former Pro Stock champion Jim Yates to his team, it’s hard to believe that Krisher won’t be making some positive movement in the coming events.

Man, How do you pick anyone in pro-stock, I guess you have to give the KB racing team the advantage, but look how things can change overnight. Mike Edwards whooped everybody for quite awhile, but cant find his own behind with both hands now. Too many good drivers to pick a clear cut favorite.

It was a matter of time before Mike "Don't hurt them 2 Bad" Edwards team got thier act together. I think he has something to prove from his disasterous Countdown. The KB team is monsterous too, but I like Mike two really start making some big noise and continue into the playoffs. I wish he would team up with WJ to get him back on top because WJ will always be my Pro Stock team.
