DragIllustrated.com Debuts Power Rankings
CLICK HERE FOR CURRENT POWER RANKINGS
Just like playgrounds, prisons and politics, big-league drag racing is all about the power—who has it and who doesn’t—and DragIllustrated.com is about to let everyone know on an event-by-event basis which professional drag race teams have got their “mojo” working and which are playing catch up.
Similar to the week-to-week team rankings so popular with the stick-and-ball crowds, DragIllustrated.com’s Power Rankings will be released shortly after the completion of each NHRA and ADRL national event throughout the 2011 season. Sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, but always entertaining; the DragIllustrated.com Power Rankings will take into account far more than just win-loss records.
“Winning will always earn big power points, but there’s so much more to consider,” said Wes Buck, cofounder and executive editor of Drag Illustrated magazine and DragIllustrated.com. “We’ll be looking at things like team chemistry, personnel and sponsor changes, hot and cold streaks and anything else that might gauge the relative power of teams on the NHRA and ADRL trails.”
The introductory DragIllustrated.com Power Rankings, as determined by Drag Illustrated editors and contributors, reflect Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock results from the recently completed NHRA Winternationals at Pomona, California, and will be updated following the NHRA Gatornationals in Florida later this month when Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Mod rankings will be added to the list.
The first ADRL edition of DragIllustrated.com’s Power Rankings will be issued late in March, shortly after the eighth-mile series’ season-opening Dragpalooza VII at Baytown, Texas, featuring the top 10 teams in Pro Extreme, Pro Nitrous, Extreme 10.5, Extreme Pro Stock and Pro Extreme Motorcycle.
“While everyone wants to know who won and who lost, at Drag Illustrated we firmly believe our readers and Web visitors also like to see informed analysis and opinion,” Buck said. “I expect the DragIllustrated.com Power Rankings will stimulate a lot of conversation and debate for fans and media. I also think NHRA and ADRL teams will quickly begin paying attention to whether their power rankings are on the rise or falling.”
Drag Illustrated is to drag racing what Rolling Stone is to the music industry; it’s all about maintaining focus on the “rock stars” of the sport. From cutting-edge stories on underground grudge matches and outlaw drag radial racers to ADRL doorslammer drivers to NHRA Top Fuel pilots, Drag Illustrated shines the spotlight on drag racing’s hottest stories and brightest stars.
Drag Illustrated is not affiliated with, nor bound by any sanctioning body or association, so it has the freedom to cover a wide variety of cars, classes, events, locations and people from a unique perspective. For team owners, drivers, builders and hardcore fans who demand unbiased, unvarnished truth about the sport they love, Drag Illustrated delivers.

This will be fun reading, can't wait for it to start. Wes you are the best.
